  1. The site http://www.virtualvinodh.com provides a converter to transliterate from Sanskrit to Tamil. The Tamil letters are marked with sounds so that one can pronounce correctly. The transliteration of Sri Bala Mulamantra Slokam on that site threw wrong results like: பாலா ஸ்தொத்ரம், பாலா மந்த்ரெ, வ்யாலீ யஜ்ஞொபவீதீ, etc. When I took up the matter, the administrator reported to me that that the Devanagari font that you are using is the cause of this error. Please see his comment:

The original source is wrong. स्तॊत्रम्, मन्त्रॆ
Look at the squiggly lines (as opposed to the straight lines). They were recently invented to denote short e and short o (Since Devanagari traditionally can’t represent those sounds).

Your own transliteration too carries an error. Please see this word:
    தினகரகிரணைர்ஜ்யொதிரூபே

I would request you to kindy look into this. Thanks.

    1. You are absolutely correct. Auto transliterations from devanagari to tamil fonts is terrible. We have been using Baraha all these years and recently started using Unicode fonts for the website postings. The old avaranas used the Baraha software to perform the conversion and it has a lot of limitations but it is still better than having nothing. The recent postings in Purnanandalahari.org site uses the virtualvinodh.com Tamil conversion. That is much better than the Baraha converter but still has issues with rendu suzhi “na” and thannagara “na”. It is already a time consuming work to type materials in devanagari, proof read etc. In spite of that, there are typo errors in the work that we often come across and correct. To retype these for Tamil use to make it perfect for Tamil or other languages is not something plan to do. We only hope that the auto transliteration tools become perfect in the future and until then, we just have to live with the limitations of the transliteration software. Thanks for your patience.

In the example you quoted – The source that was used in Baraha for dEvanAgari is stOtraM. These come out fine in devanagari. However, when we convert it to Tamil, it comes as ஸ்தொத்ரம். To make it right in Tamil, I have to change it to stotram in the source which creates issues in other languages. So for correcting the Tamil version, I have to correct all O’s to o’s and all E’s to e’s and that there several other tweaks need to get to a version that is less error prone. As you can see, all these nuances create more manual steps and can result in problems.
